FILBE Equipment Heritage
FILBE refers to the Family of Improved Load Bearing Equipment. U.S. Marine Corps publications describe FILBE as a modular load-bearing family developed to replace the earlier ILBE system and improve integration with fielded body armor. The official USMC Pack configuration included a main pack with external frame, an assault pack, assault pouch, hydration components and sustainment pouches.
The system separated the main expeditionary load from a smaller assault load, allowing users to configure equipment according to mission duration. This modular principle remains relevant to military, police, contractor and outdoor buyers procuring scalable load-carriage systems.
AKMAX 2.0 Development
“FILBE 2.0” is AKMAX’s commercial model designation, not an official U.S. Marine Corps version number. Compared with the AKMAX FILBE 1.0, which retains traditional sewn MOLLE/PALS rows, this 2.0 model introduces laser-cut attachment panels while retaining the compact 30L assault-pack format.
