The ALICE-L Max retains the basic body layout and field organization of the AKMAX ALICE Large while improving the components that directly affect load support and user comfort. The current listed configuration is supplied in Multi-Terrain Camouflage.
How ALICE-L Max Differs from the Standard ALICE Large
- Upgraded waist belt: Uses an enhanced padded waist-belt design based on the AKMAX MOLLE Large Rucksack suspension system.
- Thicker shoulder straps: Wider and more heavily padded than the standard ALICE Large shoulder straps for improved pressure distribution.
- MOLLE-style quick-release buckles: The shoulder-strap quick-release hardware is upgraded using the AKMAX MOLLE Large Rucksack-style configuration.
- Expanded pack volume: The pack body has been enlarged compared with the standard AKMAX ALICE Large. The final verified capacity should be confirmed by measurement before bulk procurement.
- Lighter external frame: Uses a lighter frame configuration than the standard AKMAX ALICE frame. Exact frame weight remains subject to specification confirmation.
- Front “US” marking: Adds the visible “US” marking that is not present on the standard AKMAX ALICE Large.

Equipment Lineage & AKMAX Development
ALICE—All-Purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment—was adopted and introduced by the U.S. Army in the 1973–1974 period. Its external-frame field-pack concept separated larger sustainment loads from the fighting load and became a long-lived reference point for military and outdoor pack design.
ALICE-L Max is not an original U.S. military ALICE variant. It is AKMAX’s commercial enhancement of the ALICE Large architecture, combining the familiar pack layout with a lighter frame, thicker shoulder straps, an upgraded waist belt, MOLLE-style quick-release hardware and an enlarged body.
