FILBE Equipment Heritage
FILBE means Family of Improved Load Bearing Equipment. U.S. Marine Corps documentation describes the official USMC Pack as a modular replacement for the earlier ILBE field pack, developed in part to improve integration with body armor. The official system included an external-frame main pack, assault pack, assault pouch, hydration components and sustainment pouches.
The historical FILBE architecture is relevant because it separates the primary expeditionary load from shorter-duration assault and hydration components. AKMAX uses that modular system logic as the design reference for this commercial 2.0 development.
